Howard Chait

Howard has been practising as an expert in the areas of insolvency, corporate reconstructions. banking litigation and commercial litigation since 1988. He has extensive experience in providing litigation and insolvency advice to liquidators, administrators, receivers and financial institutions. He has also been involved in a wide range of commercial litigation on behalf of both individuals and companies.

His commercial litigation and insolvency expertise was developed during the period when he worked on a number of high profile cases including the Waterhouse family business dispute, the Qintex receivership, and with Pricewaterhouse-Coopers in relation to the receivership of the Wales Group.

Howard’s professional affiliations include membership of the Commercial Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria as well as the Litigation Section of the Law Institute of Victoria.

• acting for a national bank in relation to various managed investment schemes which have collapsed;
• acting for the administrators of a group of companies in the dairy industry;
• acting for the administrators and then liquidators of a group of companies involved in property development;
• acting for the directors of a large car parts manufacturer which collapsed; and
• acting for investors in relation to a foreign based telecommunications company and advising on issues including tracing of assets, cross border matters and forum non-conveniens.
